"Glacier Park Grizzly" completed and awaiting a frame. My intention was to paint her as you might find her -undisturbed and unobserved in her place. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the shore of Lake Sherburne is a good place to see a Grizzly. The signs of them are everywhere, turned rocks, shredded logs and stumps, tracks and scat. The lake, just inside the western boundary of Glacier National Park, is not a natural feature- but the current generation of bears doesn't seem to notice- they forage along it's beaches, drink from it and cool themselves in it. In what is comparatively one of the wildest places in the lower forty-eight, a delicately difficult, managed coexistence seems to work. Happy New Year and Happy 100th Birthday to the National Park Service.
